1. Site Assessment and Load Calculation
Visit the site and evaluate:
- Room size and layout
- Window size and direction
- Insulation quality
- Heat-generating appliances
Use BTU calculations to determine correct AC capacity (e.g., 12,000
BTU for a 150-250 sq. ft. room).
Select appropriate AC type: Split unit, cassette, or standing unit.
2. Indoor Unit Installation
a. Mounting the Indoor Unit
Mount 7-8 feet above floor level, away from direct sunlight or heat.
Ensure minimum clearance of:
- 6 inches from the ceiling
- 1 meter from any obstacle
Install on a solid, vibration-free wall
Use a template for drilling accurate holes for mounting bracket and
piping outlet.
Slope the drain pipe slightly downward to ensure continuous water
flow.
b. Drain Pipe Installation

Use flexible PVC or rubber drain pipe, connected tightly to indoor
unit's outlet.
- Ensure no upward bends or loops in the drain line.

Use insulation on drain lines to prevent condensation leaks
indoors.
3. Outdoor Unit Installation
a. Placement Guidelines
Install on a concrete platform, wall bracket, or steel frame.
Keep in well-ventilated, shaded areas to avoid overheating.
Ensure clearance of:
- 12 inches from walls
- 24 inches in front
- 6 inches on both sides
b. Mounting and Vibration Control
Use rubber pads or vibration isolators under the unit feet.
Level the surface to avoid compressor stress.
4. Refrigerant and Copper Piping
a. Piping Connection

Use insulated copper pipe rated for R410A or R32 refrigerant.

Max vertical distance: 10 meters; horizontal: 15 meters (follow
unit specs).
- Flare the ends carefully; avoid over-tightening.
- Test for leaks using nitrogen and soap solution.
b. Insulation and Routing

Cover piping with closed-cell insulation (at least 10mm thick).
- Wrap insulated pipe, control wire, and drain line together.

Use UV-resistant trunking or conduit, especially for outdoor
sections.
5. Electrical Connection
a. Power Supply
- Use dedicated circuit for each AC unit.
- Verify voltage and amperage ratings match the AC specs.

Install MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and RCD (Residual Current
Device) in distribution board.
b. Wiring and Protection

Use 3-core copper cable (live, neutral, earth), minimum 2.5mm² or
4mm² based on load.
- Ensure proper earthing for compressor protection.
- Use surge protectors to protect PCB and inverter.
6. Commissioning and Testing
a. Vacuum and Charging
- Vacuum system using a vacuum pump (at least 500 microns).
- Release refrigerant only after vacuum is complete.

If pipe length exceeds manufacturer limit, top up refrigerant as
specified.
Power up unit and test:
- Cooling performance
- Remote functions
- Drainage flow
Use clamp meter and thermometer to measure amp draw and temperature
differential.
7. Client Handover and Maintenance Tips
Educate client on:
- Remote control functions
- Proper use of timer and mode settings
- Filter cleaning (every 2-3 weeks)
Provide service schedule: every 3-6 months.
Ensure warranty and service contact info is clearly provided.
Best Practices for Performance and Longevity
- Avoid routing refrigerant pipes under floor slabs.
- Never reuse refrigerant from another system.
- Check insulation regularly for deterioration.
